This facility will support a new QSTAR XL quadropole time-of-flight mass spectrometer for the identification, microsequencing, and analysis of post-translational modifications of newly discovered proteins. As new gene products are discovered or on-going programs develop needs for sophisticated analysis of protein sequence or structure, this core will provide the necessary expertise for primary structure determination and postranslational modifications. Services will also be available for complex metabolic profiling that will be carried out in tissue culture cells and hepatocytes from transgenic mice.
