The Slice of America: Help Grow a Community Garden and Food Forest UCSD International House Event  (April 25, 2015) at Ocean View Growing Grounds (OVGG) was recognized as the Outstanding Community Service Program by Eleanor Roosevelt College (ERC) this year. The I-House’s Slice of America program provides students with an opportunity to visit different parts of San Diego and encourages us to think critically about our roles and interactions with local communities. Dr. Keith Pezzoli, representing the Superfund intiativeds at OVGG, lead a tour of Ocean View Growing Grounds to learn about community development and locally sourced food initiatives that are shaping the evolving landscape of agriculture in San Diego. Using locally grown produce, students learned hands-on how to make vegetable spring rolls.
